Congress committee to finalise strategy of UPA's Presidential candidate meet

A 12-member Coordination Committee constituted by the Congress party to finalise the campaign programme and strategy of UPA's Presidential candidate met in New Delhi today. UPA election managers said that as per the latest assessment, Mr. Mukherjee could be securing a minumum of seven lakh value votes of the total 10.98 lakh. They said efforts are being made to see that Mukherjee is elected with a record margin.

The UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee is to file nomination papers at 11 a.m hrs on Thursday in the presence of the Senior leaders of the ruling alliance including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and alliance Chairperson and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Leaders of all UPA constituents are expected to be present on the occasion including Sharad Pawar(NCP), T R Baalu (DMK), Farooq Abdullah(NC) and E Ahmed (IUML). Senior Ministers A K Antony and P Chidambaram will also be present. NDA convener and JD-U leader Sharad Yadav will be a proposer for UPA's Presidential candidate.
