The Congress appears to be heading to form governments in Maharashtra and Haryana, retaining power with slightly reduced numbers. The Congress is also poised for a clean sweep in Arunachal Pradesh.As per results and trends available for the assembly elections in three states so far, the Congress-NCP combine has bagged 44 seats and is leading in 100 seats in the 288 member Maharashtra assembly. The BJP-Shivsena combine got 27 seats and leading in 59. MNS headed by Raj Thakery has made its debut in the state assembly bagging 4 seats and is leading in 10. Others have got 12 and leading in 32. The BJP – Shivsena combine has virtually conceded defeat. Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde said that the party will analyse the results. Shiv Sena leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi said if it is a defeat, it has to be accepted by everybody. He said the party never expected these results. NCP leader Sharad Pawar has said that it is for the Congress to decide the chief ministership virtually dismissing his partymen's demand for rotation of the post. To a query on what was the single biggest factor for the impressive show of Congress-NCP, Pawar said the leadership of Shiv Sena-BJP did not succeed in inspiring the confidence of the voters. Indicating that there would be no problem from the NCP in government formation, Pawar said, the party wants a stable and result oriented government and a good relationship between the two parties.The Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has won Bhokar seat. The Revenue Minister Narayan Rane of the Congress has won the Kudal seat. Jadhav Bharuro of the NCP has bagged the Guhaghar seat. Meenakshi Prabhakar Patil of PWPI has won Alibag seat. Deputy Chief Minister and NCP candidate Chhagan Bhujbal is leading in Yevla. Ajit Pawar of NCP is leading in Baramati. Praniti Shinde, daughter of Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Congress candidate has won Solapur central seat. Former Deputy Chief Minister and NCP candidate Mohite Patil Vijaysinh Shankarrao is trailing in Pandharpur constituency. In Amravati, congress candidate Rajendra Shekhawat, son of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil is now leading after 8 rounds of counting. He was trailing earlier. In Haryana, the Congress is set to retain in power in the 90 member assembly. The party has won 26 seats and is leading in 16. INLD has got 19 seats and leading in 9. BJP got 4 and leading in 1. Others have got 7 seats and leading in 8.The Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has won the Garhi Sampla Kiloi seat. The Congress candidates Savitri Jindal, Bharat Bhushan and Kuldeep Sharma have won Hissar, Rohtak and Ganaur seats. State Miniaster Kiran Choudhary has won Tosham. Former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala of INLD has won Uchana Kalan seat. He is also leading in Ellenabad constituency. His son, Ajay singh chautala of INLD has won the Dabwali seat. Former Minister and Congress candidate Venod Sharma has won the Ambala city seat.In the 60 member Arunachal Pradesh assembly, the Congress has bagged 16 and is leading in 9. NCP has got 2 and leading in 2. BJP has bagged one seat. Others have won in four seats and leading in 2. The Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has already been elected unopposed. The Pradesh Congress President Nabam Tuki won the Sagalee seat defeating his nearest NCP rival.
