Congress challenges FM's statement that it will be embarrassing for party if govt. reveals names of black money a/c holders in foreign banks

Congress challenges the Finance Minister's statement that it will be embarassing for the party if government reveals names of the black money account holders in foreign banks.

Party spokesperson Ajay Maken today said Congress wants complete truth in the matter. He said government should release all details regarding probe into the case and avoid selective leaks.

Another spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi asked the government why it is not disclosing the names. Addressing media in New Delhi this evening, he said it is not Congress but the government which submitted an application before Supreme Court that it cannot reveal information on black money stashed in foreign banks.

The Congress reaction came a day after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that Congress will be embarrassed by the names of account holders having black money in foreign banks when the government reveals them in court.

Meanwhile, BJP today questioned the Congress that why it is perturbed over revealing the name of those who have stashed black money abroad if it has nothing to do with it .

Talking to AIR, party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that the NDA government has not made any name public right now as it will be the violation of Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements. He said the information in this regard will be made public at appropriate time by the government.
