Congress has begun review of its worst-ever debacle in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. A panel headed by senior party leader A K Antony met Congress leaders from Delhi unit and discussed the reasons for defeat in New Delhi this evening.
Kapil Sibal, Ajay Maken, Krishna Tirath, Mahabal Mishra and Ramesh Kumar were among those who attended the meet and gave their feedback. The party had lost all the seven seats in the city.
Party sources said Antony will also be meeting state chiefs, and other party functionaries from various states in the days to come to find out the reasons behind the defeat of the party. He will prepare a report and submit it to party President Sonia Gandhi. Congress has got its lowest tally of 44 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in elections held in April-May this year.
