Results of by polls for 31 assembly constituencies spread across seven states are pouring in.<br/><br/>In Kerala, Congress has won all the three seats in the by-polls held Saturday. In the Kannur assembly seat Mr. A.P. Abdullahkutty of the Congress won by a margin of 12,043 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Mr. M.V. Jairajan of the CPIM. In Ernakulam, Mr. Dominic Presentation of Congress humbled Mr. P.N. Seenulal of the CPM by 8620 votes. In Alappuzha assembly constituency, Congress candidate Mr. A.A. Shukkoor defeated Mr. G. Krishna Prasad of CPI by a margin of 4428 votes. All the three seats were held by the Congress. Supporters of the Congress erupted into spontaneous celebrations through out the state as new about the Congress victory spread. <br/><br/>In Himachal Pradesh, Congress and BJP both have won one seat each. Congress candidate Sujan Singh Pathania has defeated his BJP rival Baldev Raj Chaudhary by a margin 5,249 votes whereas BJP candidate Khushi Ram Balnahata has defeated his rival Congress candidate Manjeet Thakur in Rohru constituency by a margin of around 8,400 votes.<br/><br/>In Rajasthan, BJP candidate Ramesh Meena defeated Shivdayal Meena of Congress in Toda Bhim by a margin of 8277 votes. In Salumbar, congress candidate Basanti Devi Meena defeated the BJP candidate Amrit Lal Meena by a margin of 3098 votes.<br/><br/>In West Bengal, out of ten assembly seats bye-elections, results of five have been announced. Out of the four, three have been bagged by opposition Trinamool Congress, one Congress and one Independent. At Alipur seat in Kolkata, the TMC candidate Bobby Hakim has defeated his nearest CPIM rival by over 27,000 votes. At Rajganj in Jalpaiguri district, the TMC candidate Mr. Khageshwar Rai has defeated his nearest CPIM rival Mr. Dhanpati Rai by over a margin of one lakh vote. At Sujapur in Maldah district, Congress nominee Abu Nasir Khan Chaudhary defeated his nearest CPIM rival over 29,000 votes. AT Kalchini in Jalpai Guri independent candidate supported by the Gokhar Jan Mukti Morcha, Mr.Wilson Champasari has been elected by six thousand votes. Our Kokata correspondent reports that the TMC candidates are leading in remaining five seats while Congress is leading in one.<br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, first result has gone in favour of Bahujan Samaj Party from Lalitpur seat. Its candidate has won this seat by a margin of more than 14,000 votes against his nearest rival Samajwadi Party candidate. In Firozabad Parliamentary constituency Congress is leading.
