The Odisha unit of Congress party on Tuesday demanded Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to declare a special package for the maoist-affected areas of the state. It also urged the Prime Minister to order a CBI probe into the alleged multi-crore mining, coal, land, pulses and scam that took place during the Naveen Patnaik government. The demands were made by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik. During his 40-minutes meeting with senior state-level party leaders, Dr Singh was apprised about siphoning of Central funds in Odisha including non-utilisation of financial allocations made by the UPA government. After meeting the Prime Minister, the OPCC president told media persons that the Prime Minister has assured to look into the nine demands made by the state Congress and assured to take all steps to eliminate poverty from Odisha.
