Congress has demanded a white paper from Narendra Modi government on its order to destroy old files and papers.

Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed alleged that files related to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi were destroyed on the government's directions.

He alleged that it is being done to hide certain facts from the new generation. Shakeel Ahmed said, an impartial investigation needs to be carried out to determine what kinds of files were destroyed and at what level this decision was taken.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already said that out of the 11,000 files destroyed, none belonged to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
