In Uttar Pradesh the Congress have announced three more candidates for biennial elections to the State Legislative Council, which is slated on 7th of next month.<br/><br/>Quoting party sources our Lucknow correspondent reports that Party has approved candidates from Lucknow, Deoria and Kanpur-Fatehpur local bodies constituencies. Of 36 seats the party has announced only 9 nominees till now. Meanwhile a lawyer of the Supreme Court and former MLC Mr. S C Maheswari has been appointed new treasurer of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. He will be replacing Mr. Deepak Gupta who was suspended just after the Lok Sabha elections following detection of alleged irregularities in the election funds.<br/><br/>
