Congress and its allies to write to LS Speaker for an immediate decision on Leader of Opposition post

Congress and its allies will give in writing to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for an immediate decision on Leader of Opposition post.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Anand Sharma said that if his party will not get the reply of Speaker at the earliest, it will explore all options to get the post. He said that it will be unconstitutional and unfair to deny the post to Congress as law clearly says the largest party in the opposition is entitled to get it.

Mr. Sharma also alleged that BJP intention is doubtful and government is trying to subvert the selection process of CVC, Central Information Commissioner and CBI Director by denying the post.

When asked that, in 1984 even Congress government did not give the LOP post to opposition parties, Mr. Sharma said that no party at that time had sought the post.

The Congress spokesperson also criticised the government over price rise issue alleging that no real efforts have been made to contain it. He said that government should clarify, what measures its has taken to control the inflation.
