Congress accuses EC of not taking pre-emptive action against live coverage

Congress has demanded filing of an FIR against BJP leader Narendra Modi and others BJP leaders for violation of Model Code of Conduct in Varansi today. The party has also expressed serious reservation for Modi's claim that God has chosen him to rescue the country and termed him as a megalomaniac.

In a complaint to the Election Commission, the party said Modi's roadshow and his filing of nomination in in Varanasi was telecast live in the 117 constituencies when polling was on there today. It said, it is a clear violation of the modal Code of Conduct.

Party spokesperson Anand Sharma told reporters in New Delhi today that the commission should have taken pre-emptive action against live coverage.

The Congress spokesman also , if God has already selected him where is the need for the poll exercise. Responding to BJP leader Amit shah's claim that Modi wave has turned in to a Tsunami, Sharma said Modi will only bring devastation and grief like Tsunami.

On Modi's allegation that women are not safe in Congress ruled states, Sharma citing official data said, the highest number of rape cases have been reported in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh and the track record is also not good in Gujarat.
