The Congress today accused BJP of spreading misinformation in Ishrat Jahan encounter case to save its top leaders. In a joint press conference party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Anand Sharma, Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi released copy of a four-page statement of a Gujarat police officer which he had given before a Magistrate. <br/><br/>Mr. Sibal claimed that the officer had quoted the then Gujarat IPS officer D G Vanzara as saying ahead of the encounter that he had already got the green signal from the top level. <br/><br/>The BJP, on the other hand, has been alleging that the entire Congress party was involved in the matter to eliminate its political rival and the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
