Congress, AAP demand fresh polls in Delhi; BJP says it is ready

Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have demanded fresh elections in Delhi. Charging BJP with adopting delaying tactics two opposition parties alleged that it is making all efforts to form government in the city through an illegal way. Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal said, BJP lacks courage to go for fresh polls as it is sensing defeat.

Delhi Congress spokesperson Mukesh Sharma demanded that Delhi assembly be dissolved and polls in the city should held along with Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand. Meanwhile, BJP said it is ready for fresh elections in the city.

Senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu said the party does not believe in horse trading.

He said there is no pressure from BJP on Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for not holding fresh elections in the city and it is up to him to take a final call.

In another devlopment, the notification for by-polls in three assembly constituencies in Delhi have been issued today. These seats are Mehrauli, Tughlakabad and Krishna Nagar, which fell vacant following the election of BJP MLAs representing these seats to the Lok Sabha.

With this now, nomination process has began and candidates can file their nomination papers till 5th of next month. The voting will take place on 25th of next month and counting will be held on 23rd December.
