Mass graves have been dug for more than 200 people who were killed in a fuel truck explosion in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dozens of charred bodies, burnt beyond recognition, have been taken away in body bags to be buried in the graves. More than sixty children are confirmed dead.

Police in the town of Sange, near the border of Burundi, have put the death toll at more than 230. Entire families were killed when the truck crashed in the town sparking an explosion.

It is unclear how the fuel was ignited but eyewitnesses say villagers began trying to siphon petrol soon after it overturned. They say a fireball then engulfed dozens of homes as well as a market and crowded shacks where the locals were watching the World Cup.
