In Uttar Pradesh, the application for residence proof of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has been turned down by SDM Amethi. The SDM said that there is no proof that Rahul resides in Amethi or even occasionally stays there.

This comes even as Rahul Gandhi has been the incumbent Amethi MP for the past 10 years and is seeking re-election from the constituency.

Our Lucknow correspondent reports that Rahul needs a proof of residence to apply for the bank account in Amethi for showing his poll expense as per the Election Commission guidelines.

His AAP rival in Amethi, Kumar Vishwas had taken a swipe at Rahul in January this year saying that unlike the Congress Vice President, he will build a house in Amethi and live with the people.
