Cong says it not against separate Telangana state

The Congress has made it clear that it is not against the creation of a separate Telangana state. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday, party spokesman Mr Shakeel Ahmed said that his party wants a political consensus on the issue before taking any final decision.<br/><br/>He strongly criticized BJP stating that senior leaders from the party have admitted not taking any step in this direction under the pressure of its then ally TDP.<br/><br/>Talking about the Liberhan Commission report, Mr Ahmed said that it is beyond the prerogative of the party to take any decision regarding indictments in the report. Clarifying on the statement given by Mr Salmaan Khurseed in Lok Sabha on Monday, Mr Shakeel Ahmed said that he did not give a clean chit to Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Mr Ahmed however added that his party has high respect for the former prime minister.<br/>
