‘Cong retains Maharashtra,Haryana; sweeps Arunachal

The Congress is poised to form Governments in Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh while in Haryana, it has emerged as single largest party, short of six seats for absolute majority. With all the results declared in the State, the ruling Congress has emerged the single largest party by winning 40 seats in the 90 member Assembly. INLD has got 31 BJP 4, Shiromani Akali Dal and BSP one each, Haryana Janhit Congress six and Independents seven. <br/><br/>In Maharashtra, the ruling Congress-NCP alliance has so far won 115 seats and is leading in 25 seats in the 288-member Assembly. The BJP-Shiv Sena Combine has got 80 and is ahead in 12 seats. MNS has got 13. Others have bagged 40 and are leading in three. <br/><br/>In the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, the Congress has bagged 32 and leading in six. NCP got five and BJP two. Others have got ten. Former Union Minister, Omak Apang was defeated in Pasighat West. <br/><br/>In Haryana, the prominent winners include Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kiran Chaudhary,Sampat Singh and Randeep Singh Surjewala. Former Chief Minister and INLD Chief Om Prakash Chauthala has won both Uchana Kalan and Ellanabad seats. His son Ajay Singh Chautala had bageed Dabwali seat. Kuldip Bishnoy of the Haryana Janhit Congress has won the Adampur seat. Jasma Devi, wife of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has lost. <br/><br/>Haryana Congress Chief Phool Chand Mullana and Transport Minister Mange Ram Gupta lost from Mullana and Jind to INLD.<br/><br/>Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan won the Bhokar seat by a record margin. The Ministers of the outgoing Cabinet who were declared elected include Narayan Rane, Chhagan Bhujbal Harshavardhan Shahajirao and Ajit Pawar. Union Energy Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's daughter, Praniti, has also been elected. President Pratibha Patil's son and Congress candidate Raosaheb Shekhawat won Amravati seat after defeating Congress rebel Sunil Deshmukh by a margin of over 5,600 votes. Senior NCP MInister, Vijaysinh Mohite Patil is among seven members of Ashok Chavan Ministry have lost. Poonam Mahajan, daughter of late BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan has lost Ghatkoper West. <br/><br/>In Arunachal Pradesh, former State Chief Minister and Congress nominee, egong Apang lost the Tuting Yingkiong seat, which returned him seven times earlier. His son Omak Apang also lost in Pasighat West. NCP Candidate and former Chief Secretary, Jomin Tayeng won from Dambuk Constituency. BJP's Tapen Siga has bagged the Daporijo seat. Lone woman Independent Candidate, Nang Sati Mein won from Namsai seat.
