Congress released the second list of 62 candidates for Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on Thursday. The list was released by Party General Secretary Oscar Fernandez in New Delhi. Rakesh Verma son of Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma will contest from Dariyabad constituency.

Names of All India Congress Committee Secretary Abdul Mannan, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh and former National Student Union of India President Nadeem Javed have also figured in the list. Mr. Mannan who is also the sitting MLA will be contesting from Kanpur Cantt while Akhilesh Pratap Singh will be in the fray from Rudrapur seat in Deoria district.

Mr. Javed will contest from Jaunpur while Mohammad Muslim, a former minister in the state government, has been given the party ticket from the Tiloi constituency in Rae Bareli. Congress has already declared 73 candidates in its first list. Polls in the state for the 403-member assembly are due in April next year.
