Cong-NCP seat-sharing agreement likely on Thursday

Senior NCP leader and Union Minister Mr. Praful Patel has said that the seat-sharing formula for the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly elections will be finalised by tomorrow. Representatives of the two parties held their first formal meeting on the issue in Mumbai last evening. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today Mr. Praful Patel said that following delimitation of constituencies some issues need to be addressed and expressed optimism that an agreement will be reached shortly. br/br/Meanwhile the second round of talks between Congress and the NCP held in Mumbai today. Congress sources described the talks as preliminary where the two parties identified constituencies where they are strong. Congress is ready to give 113-115 seats to the NCP out of the total 288.br/br/BJP and Shiv Sena are also yet to arrive at a seat- sharing arrangement. The filing of nominations begins on Friday. Polling will be held on the 13th of next month.
