With less than a month left for assembly elections, political heat is rising in Maharashtra as political parties are holding parleys on seat sharing. The Congress and NCP combine that had contested and won majority of seats in the 2004 polls, is in the final stages of deciding upon the seat sharing formula.br/br/Leaders of both the parties Congress and NCP met again today at the Chief Ministers residence to discuss on the seat sharing formula. No announcements have been made in this respect yet as the talks are still on.. Party sources indicate that the parties are on the final stages of deciding upon the number of seats to be contested but an official declaration is awaited. So far the parties have reviewed their success and performance in the respective assemblies since last elections. In 2004, NCP contested 124 seats and won 71, while Congress fought on 164 and bagged 69. While the saffron alliance of BJP and Shiv Sena had fought on the ratio of 171:117. Final declaration of seat sharing for this year is awaited.
