Cong-NCP finalise seat sharing for Maharashtra polls; nomination filing on other states

The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party have announced their seat sharing arrangement for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. While the Congress will contest 174 seats, the NCP will fight in the remaining 114 segments. The seat sharing arrangement was reached after several rounds of talks between the top leaders of the two parties in New Delhi in the last two days. The seat sharing arrangement details were announced at a press conference by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Mr. Manik Rao Thakre. Senior NCP leader Mr. Praful Patel and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Ashok Chouhan were also present on the occasion. Evading a direct reply to a flurry of questions on the names of the prominent candidates in the list, leaders of both the parties did not disclose the same.<br/>AIR correspondent Alpana Pant Sharma reports from Mumbai that electioneering in Maharashtra gains momentum as the congress and NCP officially declare their seat sharing pact of 174and 114 seats .Congress and NCP Will release the list today .Other parties Shivsena -BJP,MNS,BSPand RPI have already released lists .On the third day of filing nominations yesterday more than 300 candidates filed nominations including 12 women .In this election delimitation has made the battle for seats fiercer .Some political bigwigs have lost their traditional strongholds as constituencies were deleted and merged <br/>In Arunachal Pradesh, with the last date for filing of nominations closing in, 32 candidate filed nomination papers on Tuesday. Our Itanagar Correspondent Sonik Kumar Singh reports that campaigning has gained momentum in the state. <br/>"Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, State Congress President Nabam Tuki, Speaker Setong Sena, Home Minister Jarbon Janlin, alongwith a host of minsiters submitted nomination papers yesterday. Four women candidates also filed their papers. All the 36 candidates who have filed nominations so far , 17 are from Congress, 7 each from NCP and Trinamul Congress, two from BJP and 3 are independent candidates. Campaigning has begun in full swing with the candidates conducting door to door convassing. Campaigning is further expected to boost up after the completion of filing of nominations on Friday. <br/> <br/>In Haryana, 101 candidates of various political parties have filed their nomination papers in their constituencies yesterday. Tourism Minister Kiran Choudhary, Indian National Lok Dal Secretary General Ajay Singh Chautala and former Haryana INLD Chief Sher Singh Badshami have also filed their nominations yesterday. Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Sajjan Singh said with these 101 nominations the total number of candidates who have filed their nominations so far, has raised to 130.<br/>
