Four senior congress leaders including two union ministers have filed a writ petition in Allahabad High Court on Thursday seeking stay on their arrest in connection with an FIR which has been lodged after Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s rally on the alleged beating of a Samjawadi Party worker.
The rally was organised on 14th November in Jhunsi under Phulpur parliamentary consistency.
The petitioner counsel Sumit Gopal told AIR Allahabad Correspondent that In the Petition the Congress leaders also requested the court to quash the FIR which has been registered in Jhunsi police station area against them.
Some of the IPC sections which have been imposed on congress leaders are non bailable also.
It is expected that the High Court will take up this issue for hearing on Monday (i.e 21st November 2011)
In the FIR Union Minster Mr R.P.N. Singh and Mr Jitin Prasad have been named. The two other leaders including Congress legislative Party leader in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Mr Pramod Tiwari and MLC Naseeb Pathan have also been named under various sections of IPC.
