Cong leader criticises Maha govt for ignoring problems of farmers

Senior Congress Leader Mr. Radhkrishna Vikhe Patil has criticised the Maharashtra Government for ignoring problems of distressed farmers in different parts of the state. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai today, Mr. Vikhe Patil said that touring the drought-affected areas of Marathwada region as proposed by the Group of Ministers is not enough. The Government has to ensure proper and timely implementation of effective policies for mitigating problems and to help affected farmers, he said.

Mr.Vikhe Patil, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, further said that the situation has aggravated due to lack of drinking water and closure of cattle camps. He alleged that the Government has failed to release enough funds for the affected and MGNREGA jobs are hard to find. Stating that the Congress party would raise all these issues in the upcoming session of the State Legislature, Mr. Vikhe Patil said that the Government should also ensure early disbursal of crop insurance money for farmers.
