Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh demanded a judicial inquiry to probe illegal mining in Madhya Pradesh and mining contracts given by the state BJP government since 2004. Expressing grief on the incident of murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar in Morena yesterday, he said that the main reason behind this incident is illegal mining by criminals across the state. In a press release issued in Bhopal today he alleged that the BJP government has given mining contracts to outsiders who have relations with BJP leaders and not to local people.Meanwhile the state government has said that strict action would be taken against the culprits who killed IPS officer Narendra Kumar and a free and fair investigation will be conducted into the matter.Mining mafia had killed SDOP Narendra Kumar in Banmore area of Morena district. After getting a tip off about illegal mining in the area, Narendra Kumar had gone there and trying to stop a tractor-trolley loaded with stones. Driver of tractor-trolley crushed the young police officer by overturning the trolley over him. Police have arrested driver of the tractor Manoj and a case of murder has been registered against him. Mr. Narendra Kumar was IPS officer of 2009 batch.
