Cong directs its State Govts to give subsidy till 9 LPG cylinders

Congress party has asked the states ruled by it to increase supply of subsidized cylinders from 6 to 9 annually. This information was given by Party General Secretary, Janardhan Dwivedi in New Delhi today. Government recently restricted the supply of subsidized LPG gas cylinders to 6 per family. Delhi government has already enhanced the supply of cylinders to 9 in the BPL category.

Talking to reporters the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mrs. Ambika Soni said that both Prime Minister and Congress President wanted to give relief to people so a decision was taken to ask the states ruled by the party to provide 3 more cylinders to every family on subsidized rates.

Meanwhile, the Congress welcomed the party's decision asking its governments in the States to raise the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders from six to nine. Talking to reporters in New Delhi the party spokesman Sandip Dikshit said that non-congress governments should also follow the steps taken by the Congress governments in the States and share the burden to help the people. Regarding the recently announced economic reforms, he said that such reforms will help common people in the long run.

On the question of Mid-term poll, the party spokesman said congress party is always ready for the election. But there is no threat to the Manmohan Singh Government and it will complete its full term.
