Congress has denied any violation of Model code of conduct by Rahul Gandhi for holding a road show in Kanpur for elections. State congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi has alleged that the Kanpur district authorities tried to obstruct the road show on the directives of the ruling party in the state. She said there was no violation of the code as Rahul Gandhi neither addressed any meeting or brought out procession during his road show.

But, Kanpur district election officer and district magistrate has ordered for filing a case against Rahul Gandhi and President of city unit of the party and others for violation of model code of conduct. District Election Officer Dr. Hari Om told our Lucknow correspondent that they carried out the road show without any permission. He said that district poll authorities have already denied the permission of the route desired by the organisations.
