Congress has demanded filing of an FIR against BJP leader Narendra Modi for displaying his party symbol and making a speech after casting his vote in Gandhinagar, Gujarat today.
In a complaint to the Commission, Secretary AICC legal department, K C Mittal said that Modi was seen going to the polling station to cast his vote and on his way out of the polling booth, he was campaigning for the party and delivering a speech.
Mittal said, Modi's speech and display of party symbol is violation of Representation of People Act and model code of conduct.
Demanding immediate action against him, the party said that Modi or his associates be restrained from going to polling booths and campaigning in any manner and he be disqualified.
Talking to media persons, Narendra Modi had alleged that the Congress has already accepted defeat as the party plans to support a Third Front government at the Centre to keep him out of the race for Prime Ministership.
