The Congress today condemned the killing of IPS officer Narendra Kumar by mining mafia in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, Party spokesperson Manish Tiwari said the incident was unfortunate. He demanded a thorough probe into the murder.

Mr. Tiwari said the statements of the family members of the police officer indicate that he was aware of the danger or the kind of elements he was confronting with. He demanded that the Madhya Pradesh government should act against the perpetrators of the crime. He said the government should halt illegal mining in the state.

Referring to media reports of alleged burning of the houses of Dalits by some members of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Mr Tiwari said that it is reprehensible and such kind of political vendetta should have no place in democracy.
