In the 60 member Meghalaya assembly, one result has come in so far. Congress candidate Deborah C. Marak has won from William Nagar constituency by a margin of 2000 votes over his nearest rival Jonathone N. Sangma, Independent. The latest trend shows that Congress is leading in 24 constituencies, United Democratic Party in four, HSPDP in four, NCP one and Nationalist Peoples Party in two. Others are leading in nine seats.
In Tripura assembly, three results have come in so far. All three have gone in favour of the ruling Left Front. CPI candidate and Jail Minister Manindra Reyang has won the Shantirbazar assembly seat by defeating his nearest Congress rival Gouri Sankar Reang by a margin of over 3700 votes. Sitting CPIM member Yashbir Tripura has retained Jolaibari seat with a margin of over 9000 votes over his nearest Congress rival. Another Minister Aghore Deb Barma of CPIM defeated his INPT rival Amiya Kumar Debbarma by a margin of over 7000 votes.
The Left Front is leading in another 46 seats while Congress is leading in seven.
Chief Minister and CPI-M candidate Manik Sarkar was leading over his nearest Congress rival Shah Alam by 3 thousand 264 votes when reports last came in. State Finance minister and CPIM candidate Badal Choudhury was leading by 3 thousand 200 votes. Transport Minister Manik Dey was leading over his nearest rival candidate at Majlispur constituency. Health Minister and CPIM candidate Tapan Chakravarty is also leading by 1700 votes against his nearest Congress candidate. Social Welfare minister Bijita Nath is leading over nearest Congress candidate.State Congress President Sudip Ray Barman is leading by 700 votes against his nearest CPIM candidate. Opposition leader and Congress candidate Ratan Lal Nath was leading against his nearest Left Front rival. Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Samir Ranjan Barman was trailing against his nearest CPI-M candidate.
In Nagaland, four results have been declared so far. Three have gone in favour of Naga Peoples Front while one Congress candidate won the election. In Pughoboto constituency Y. Vikheho Swu defeated Congress candidate J. Sumi over a margin of 2200 votes , while in Phomching constituency, the NPF candidate Pohwang defeated the Congress candidate K.K. Konwak over 2400 votes. In Mon Town constitutency, N. Thongwang of NPF defeated Congress candidate Y.Mankhao over 250 votes.
In Aboi constituency, Congress party candidate Eshak Konyak declared elected by defeating his nearest rival Naga Peoples Front candidate Nyeiwang over a margin of 600 votes.
The Naga Peoples Front is leading in another 22 constituencies, Congress is ahead in 5 constituencies, Nationalist Congress party in 4 seats and others are leading in 7 seats.
Polling for the Tuensang Sadar- I Assembly Constituency was countermanded due to the death of Congress Candidate and sitting MLA P. Chuba Chang.
