Cong asks govt to put pressure on UK for deportation of Mallya

The Congress has asked government to put pressure on United Kingdom for the deportation of businessman Vijay Mallya, who flee India on 2nd of March. Mr Mallya owes more than nine thousand crore rupees to banks. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala also sought to know what action government is mulling against the liquor baron.<br/><br/>Claiming that before leaving the country, Mr Mallya had met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Mr Surjewala said the government should let the country know what was the nature of the meeting between the two. He also termed as eyewash the issuing of notices by the Enforcement Directorate. The spokesperson demanded that instead of making statement, the government should bring back Mr Mallya.<br/><br/>Reacting to the allegations, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu asked Congress to explain first, why it extended loans to Vijay Mallya during its tenure. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, efforts would be made to bring back Mr Mallya. He said action has already been initiated against him.
