Cong announces first list of 73 candidates for UP Assembly polls

Union Minister Salman Khurshid's wife Louis Khurshid, UP Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Congress Legislative Party Leader Pramod Tiwari are figuring in first list of 73 candidates announced by Congress for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Louis Khurshid has been fielded from Farrukhabad Assembly Contituancy and Dr Joshi will contest for Lucknow Cantt Assembly seat. Pramod Tiwari will contest from Rampur Khas Assembly Constituancy. The list was finalised by the Central Election Committee of the Congress in New Delhi.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that party has renominated its all sitting MLAs for next elections. MP Praveen Singh Aron's wife Supriya, will contest from Bareilly Cant seat. Party has also nominated those who had contested the last Lok Sabha elections and had put up an impressive show. Party has fielded S P Goyal from Ghaziabad and Chaudhary Brijendra Singh from Atrauli in Aligarh. A women rights activist leading “Gulabi Gang” in the Bundelkhand region of the state, Sampat Pal has been given ticket from Manikpur in Chitrakoot district. Elections for 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh have to be concluded by May next year.
