Conference on ‘innovative management of election’ for NE starts

In Assam, a zonal conference on ‘innovative management of election’ for the North-Eastern states, including Sikkim, has begun in Guwahati this afternoon. <br/><br/>The Election Commissioners- Mr. S.Y.Quraishi and Mr. V.S.Sampath, besides the district election officers from all states of the region are taking part in the conference. Apart from next year’s Assam Assembly election, issues relating to electoral and expenditure managements will come up for discussion during the conference. <br/><br/>The Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Navin Chawla will also inaugurate a North-East symposium at the Assam Administrative Staff College at Guwahati tomorrow. <br/><br/>The symposium has been organized to mark completion of 60 years of the Election Commission of India. It will mainly discuss on challenges before the electoral management, involvement of youths in elections, innovative ideas and highlight other poll-related issues. <br/><br/>The Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has organized a Diamond Jubilee photo exhibition to mark the 60-year completion of the Election Commission at the Shankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati from today.<br/><br/>The three-day exhibition was inaugurated by the Election Commissioner Mr. S.Y.Quraishi in presence of a large gathering this afternoon. Election Commissioner Mr. V.S.Sampath was also present on the occasion, among others. Over 100 rare photographs of elections in the North-east are on display in the exhibition. <br/><br/>The Director General, information, education and communication of the Election Commission Mr. Akshay Rout said that similar photo exhibitions will also be organized in other capital stations of the North East to sensitize the voters within next four months.
