The US and several leaders from countries that have a significant Tamil population like Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore have condoled the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said, Jayalalithaa was dearly loved by her people. American Ambassador Richard Verma said, Jayalalithaa will be remembered for her years of public service to Tamil Nadu and as a supporter of closer ties between the United States and India.<br/><br/>In his condolence message, French Ambassador Alexandre Ziegler said, Jayalalithaa was a prominent leader who was loved and admired by millions. Canadian High Commissioner to India Nadir Patel said, he was deeply saddened by Jayalalithaa's death.
