Concern over low quality drugs in country: Chemicals Min. Jena

The Government today said, it is committed to the growth of generic medicine in the markets across the globe.The Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Srikant Jena said that there is a growing market of branded medicines. He said, affordability and accessibility of generic medicines to the poor people is important to ensure its growth in the market.Speaking at the inaugural session of the 3rd edition of Indian Pharma Summit in New Delhi, he expressed concern over the low quality of drugs in the country, he said the government will ensure provision of qualitative drugs. The Minister noted that innovations are very important to generate good and low cost medicines and appealed to doctors to prescribe low cost generic medicines to their patients.The day long summit will focus on leadership in generics challenges , opportunities and strategies and regulatory challanges in global generics.
