The Competition Appellate Tribunal, Compat has stayed the penalty of 1,773 crore rupees slapped on state-run Coal India Ltd, CIL by the Competition Commission of India for unfair trade practices. The stay will be subject to the CIL depositing 50 crore rupees in three weeks. The Compat will hear the matter on the 13th of March this year. The Compat yesterday heard Coal India's plea challenging the CCI order. The CCI had imposed on Coal India the fine for allegedly abusing its dominant position in fuel supplies.
