The landmark Companies Bill has been enacted, with the assent of the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. The law will replace the nearly six-decade old regulations that governed corporates in the country. In a release, the Corporate Affairs Ministry yesterday said that the new laws have been gazetted after being approved by Parliament last month and receiving the assent from the President. The new laws will facilitate business-friendly corporate regulation, improve corporate governance norms, enhance accountability on the part of corporates and auditors, raise levels of transparency and protect interests of investors, particularly small investors.
