Commuters stranded as HR Roadways employees continue strike

In Haryana, thousands of commuters were left stranded today as the state roadways employees continued their strike for the second day. The employees are holding protest against the state government's move to give permits to private operators to run buses on many routes. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters, Haryana Roadways Employees Union president Sarbat Singh Punia said, the government yesterday invited the union for talks, but nothing came out of it as the government's stance on giving permits to private operators remained unchanged. <br/><br/>After the talks failed, the union announced an indefinite strike last evening. He claimed, on 29th of March, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had assured Employees Union that the government would not give any permits to private operators.
