Commonwealth games baton reaches Kolkata

The prestigious Baton of the commonwealth games has reached Kolkata. The State Sports Minister, Mr. Kanti Ganguli received the Baton at the city airport which came from Tripura. The West Bengal Governor Mr. M.K. Narayanan flagged off the Queen's Baton Relay at a function in the city. Mr. Naryanan handed over the Baton to the former Indian Cricket Captain Saurav Ganguli and later footballer Baichung Bhutia kicked off the Relay run. The ceremony was witnessed by thousands of sports lovers, school children and imminent sports personality near Victoria Memorial. A special cultural programme was organized and a commemorative postal stamp released on the occasion.
