Commodity-wise Railways freight revenue goes up by 4.59 per cent

The commodity-wise freight revenue of Railways rose by 4.59 per cent year on year basis. This was disclosed in an official release issued in New Delhi on Monday.The Railways have generated over 49,000 crore rupees of revenue from commodity-wise freight traffic during April to December last year as compared to 44,789 crore 41 Lakh rupees during the corresponding period in 2010.AIR Correspondent adds that commodity wise freight include coal, iron ore, food grains, petroleum products, fertilizers and other raw minerals.
