Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said that safety of train services across the country will be further improved by constituting a special safety committee of eminent scientists and technocrats. He was addressing the media in Thiruvananthapuram after a high level meeting of entire railway board with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his cabinet collegues to speed up railway development of Kerala. Mr Trivedi added that railway ministry plans to rope in service of financial experts.
The minister said that foundation stone for railway coach factory at Kanchikode in Palakkad district will be laid next month. One of the longest train services, Dibrugarh Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari weekly express will start operating soon, he added. Apart from thirty nine senior officials of railway ministry all members of parliament from Kerala attended the meeting held in the state for the first time.
