Committee on Telangana issue to be formed this week, says Home Minister

Home Minister P. Chidambaram has said that the committee on the Telengana issue will be formed this week.<br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, he said there is no delay in the announcement on a mechanism to be put in place for a roadmap on resolving the Telangana issue.<br/><br/>Mr Chidambaram also appealed to the students not to take the extreme step of attempting suicides on the issue. <br/><br/>The Home Minister rejected as pernicious the thesis propagated by the Shiv Sena and the MNS that Maharashtrians have the first right to Mumbai. He said that every Indian has the right to work and live in Mumbai. He said, the Maharashtra government is competent to handle the situation but the Centre will extend help if sought.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports that Mr Chidambaram said the situation in the states affected by Left Wing Extremism continues to be a cause of grave concern.
