Committee on digital payments submits report to Arun Jaitley

The Committee on digital payments today submitted its final report to the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi. The Committee chaired by Ratan P.Watal principal advisor in NITI Aayog, in its report has recommended a medium term strategy to accelerate growth of digital payments in the country to bridge the digital divide. <br/><br/>It has also recommended inclusion of financially and socially excluded groups and assimilation of emerging technologies in the market, while safeguarding security of digital transactions and providing level playing to all stakeholders. <br/><br/>The committee has also suggested inter-operability of the payments system between banks and non-banks and up-gradation of the digital payment infrastructure.<br/><br/>Finance Ministry had constituted the committee on 23rd of august this year on digital payments to review the payment systems in the country and recommend appropriate measures.
