Committed to removing bottlenecks in implementation of development projects:Fin Min

Finance Minister P Chidambaram has expressed commitment to remove bottlenecks in the implementation of major developmental projects. In a series of meetings held with select bankers, industrialists and investors in Mumbai yesterday, the Finance Minister said, the government wants to identify the reasons why more than 340 projects have been stalled and how they can be restarted. Mr Chidambaram said, he has realised that most common reasons stalling the projects were land acquisition, gas and coal linkages, environmental clearances, forest clearances and in some cases the inability or the unwillingness of banks to restructure loans. The Finance Minister also said that the government will deal with these issues on a project to project basis.
