Commerce Minister says, it's time to embark on 'One Nation, One Standard'; Calls for making India leader in setting global benchmarks in setting standards

<span style="color: #222222;">Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said, it's time to embark on a "One Nation One Standard" mission and make India the leader in setting global benchmarks in fixing standards. Reviewing the work of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) yesterday, Mr Goyal who is also Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister said, no one should feel the need to go abroad to get quality certification.<br />'' <br />'' Saying lab testing in India should be of world standards, Mr Goyal said, modern equipments and the latest technologies should be used.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Goyal said, while all areas of production and services be included in this national mission, bringing a national uniformity and standardization in all kinds of public procurement and tendering can be an immediate deliverable.<br />'' <br />'' The minister stressed that the strength and character of nation is often exemplified by the standards it sets for the quality of its products and services.</span><br />''  <br />
