The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Anand Sharma has promised to consider the formation of National Services Competitiveness Council (NSCC) like National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) and to form a task force on the service sector. Mr. Sharma said this while inaugurating the first service conclave in New Delhi today. He said, in view of the fact that the service sector is producing 60 percent of gross domestic product and 35 percent of total employment, it is necessary to focus on this sector. He also said that industrial sector needs to be strengthened in order to boost the service sector, as it is the base of services.
