Commemorative postage stamp on 50 years of Passports Act released

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Communications Minister Manoj Sinha today unveiled commemorative postage stamp to mark the completion of 50 years of the Passports Act-1967. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj said this is an important occasion to introspect. She said passport rules have been reformed in the recent past and efforts are being to provide passport to the citizens at the earliest and at his/her door steps. The Minister said children living in orphanage have also been given passports. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj said, some passport rules had become irrelevant in today's day and age. Therefore the government has changed several rules. She said no one should have to travel more than 50 kilometres to get their passport. Mrs Swaraj announced that the government has decided to issue passports in Hindi and English. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sinha described passport act as a very important act. He said, every citizen has the right to travel abroad. <br/>
