Coming soon: Panel for clearance of film shootings

The Government is ready to set up a film commission to facilitate speedy clearance of all film shooting-related permissions. Inaugurating an international student film festival, being organised by the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mr. Uday Kumar Verma said this in Kolkata on Friday.

Mr. Verma said the setting up of a film commission would help to make the country as an attractive shooting destination to the foreign film makers as well as local producers. Mr. Verma informed that

Rs 500 crore would be spent under the National Heritage Mission in the 12th Plan to preserve the classic Indian films. He also said that the Government had decided to institute an award to commemorate the centenary of Indian cinema.
