Combing, search operations intensified in Gadchiroli district

The combing and search operations have been intensified around Permili in Aheri taluka of the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. An alert has also been sounded for the security forces in the surrounding areas. Yesterday, four security personnel including two men of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed in the powerful landmine blast triggered by the Naxalites in the area.According to the official sources, this incident took place while the Police team led by a Police Inspector of CRPF was returning to their base near Permili after purchasing the necessary supplies last afternoon. Their vehicle carrying four personnel was blown in a landmine blast near the Permili lake. The deceased personnel include the CRPF Police Inspector Nivrutti Yadav and jawan Anand Jajge and also the Police Sub Inspectors of the State Police Shashikant Morey and Mahendrakumar Nalgul.This attack came close after twenty Naxalites including five women were apprehended from Fulkad and Charwahi village in Dhanora taluka of the district during the swift operation conducted by the Gadchiroli Police on Sunday. They also recovered arms, ammunitions from the sites. The arrested Naxalites are reported to have been involved in hijacking a truck carrying explosives in Yerkad forest in Dhanora taluka on 10th March earlier this year.
