In Afghanistan, combined security force led by Afghan National Army killed two insurgents and detained several suspected insurgents in Sayyidabad district of Wardak province yesterday. A Joint Command statement issued in Kabul today says the first insurgent was killed when he threatened the security force with an AK-47 rifle. The second insurgent was found with the weapons cache and killed when he threatened the security force. The target of the operation was Taliban leaders who were responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. The combined force destroyed a large number of weapons recovered from the insurgents.The security force also detained several local Taliban leaders and their facilitators in Zabul, Paktika, Khost, Gazni, Nangarhar, Paktiya, Helmand and Kandahar provinces yesterday. They were responsible for roadside bomb attacks against Afghan national security forces. During the operation, a civilian received minor wounds to his leg.
