Colour poisoning mars holi in Mumbai; more than 140 hospitalised

Holi celebrations in Mumbai today were marred as more than 140 people, mostly children, suffered colour poisoning and many were hospitalized following allergic reaction. The incident occurred in Shastrinagar area of Dharavi today afternoon where Holi celebrations were in full swing.Several people developed allergic reaction to the colours and rushed to the Lokmanya Tilak municipal general hospital at Sion. According to the hospital sources 144 cases of colours poisoning came to the hospital and 50 people were admitted. The officials stated that the affected persons complained of giddiness and vomiting. Officials said, some people were serious when admitted but they are now stable after treatment. Those in hospital include children aged 9-10 years.
