Colombo ODI abandoned due to rain

The first one-day international cricket match between Sri Lanka and West Indies was abandoned because of rain in Colombo today. At the Sinhalese Sports Club, electing to bat after winning the toss, West Indies made 245 for 5 in 50 overs. Rain started during the innings break. The steady rain eventually forced match officials to abandon the game. In the West Indian innings, opener Addrian Barath hit a fine 113 while Ramnaresh Sarwan made 75. West Indies returned to Sri Lanka to complete a limited-overs series after a scheduled five-match series was washed out in December. Much of the drawn three-match test series was also lost to rain.
